Boat Harbour Beach is regularly named among Australia’s most beautiful beaches — and once you’ve seen that clear turquoise water against the white sand, it’s easy to understand why. Whether you’re here for a weekend or a fortnight, there’s plenty to fill your days right on the doorstep of the holiday park.
Swim in the clearest water in the north-west
The beach is sheltered and family-friendly, with gentle waves that make it a safe spot for children to splash about. The water is famously clear — and, this being Bass Strait, famously refreshing. Pack the towels; it’s a short, easy stroll down from the park.
Explore the rock pools at low tide
Time your visit for low tide and the eastern end of the beach reveals a world of rock pools teeming with marine life. It’s a favourite with kids — bring a bucket, tread carefully, and put everything back where you found it.
Snorkel, paddle and fish
The calm, clear water is excellent for snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding. Keen anglers can fish from the rocks, and the bay is a beautiful place to launch a kayak on a still morning. Keep an eye out for dolphins and seals, which are often spotted around the point.
Walk to Shelter Point
For a gentle stroll with a big reward, follow the coast around to Shelter Point. It’s an easy walk and a wonderful vantage point for watching the water — and, if you’re lucky, the local wildlife.
Grab a coffee on the sand
The surf club café sits right on the beachfront — the perfect place for a coffee, a casual lunch or an ice cream after a swim, without having to go far from the water.
Stay for sunset
Don’t pack up too early. The hills above the bay catch the most beautiful golden light in the late afternoon, and sunset over Bass Strait — best enjoyed from your cabin deck or one of the park’s lookout spots — is a nightly highlight worth slowing down for.
